A Prayer. It coaxed him from his tormented nightmare A gentle hand from the deep blue yonder Through Several shades of midnight Warm Hands held his tiny face, His large eyes shaped like full moons gazed in relief -But soon, they began welling - ' Why my son ? Why do you cry ? When your pain is vanquished and you are at peace, why my son, why do you cry?' - How can I be at peace My Lord? When My brothers blood draw up rivers? When My sisters cries pierce my bones? While death has enraptured my once aching wounds and silenced my calls for an end My people suffer Day in - Day out . With nothing but blank tunnel eyes As the oppressor is painted the hero I ask you my Lord, where is my salvation Even as death lays me down in it's velvet bed?
